Carrot is among the ten most economically valuable vegetable crops worldwide. Russia is on the second place after China in carrot cultivation.

Carrot is a challenging crop for commercial production because of small seeds requiring a good pre-sowing seed treatment. The crop is also very sensitive to soil fertility, watering, nutrients, dramatic weather changes (frost, heat, rain, drought, wind), and pesticides, where their widely-used application results in spreading and accumulation of infections and weeds.

Albit is one of the few products registered as a carrot growth stimulator. It enhances field germination, stimulates plant growth and development, improves resistance to adverse environmental conditions, increases resistance of plants to disease damage, increases yield, and improves product quality. Albit is also applied on carrot as an antidote (safener) to reduce the phytotoxic effects of pesticides.

Application method: It is recommended to perform pre-sowing seed treatment (2 mL per liter of water, application rate of the solution = 1 liter per kg of seeds) for 3-10 hours and two treatments during the growing season (30 mL/ha or 1 mL per 10 liters of water; application rate of the solution 400 L/hà, 4 liters per 100 m2). Sprayings are recommended during vegetation at the stage of 2-3 true leaves and 15 days after the first treatment. Albit may be applied for 2 more sprayings to enhance effect. Albit solution (1 mL/10 L) may be used for watering or drip irrigation. Albit is also recommended for application as antidote in tank mixtures with pesticides according to their standard recommendations.

Since 2001, Albit has been widely applied for carrot cultivation in Russia (at the Russian Scientific Research Institute of Selection and Seed-Growing of Vegetable Crops) and abroad.

In 2001-2006, Albit was tested on the carrot var. Vitaminnaya at the Russian Scientific Research Institute of Selection and Seed-Growing of Vegetable Crops (Moscow oblast). On average, Albit treatment promoted carrot yield increase by 3.75 t/hà (+10.9%). Field germination increased by 18.8% and beta-carotene content  by 18.2%.

In Turkey, Albit has been applied for several years in tank mixes with herbicides, efficiently eliminating their phytotoxic effect, improving yield increase, and enhancing drought resistance (Fig. 1).

In the USA, Albit was also applied on carrot, resulting in yield increase and improved marketability (Fig. 2).
